Harry never listened to me. I pulled on his coat, but he shrugged me away. I stood in front of the door, but he just turned around and started to crawl out the window. There was something out there. A thing. A monster. I had seen it five times that day. A blur of brown hair, claws and spines.
“It’s a porcupine. Please let me go.” He stopped climbing out the window and gave me a sympathetic look.
“No, Harry, it’s not a porcupine, opossum or any other nightly beast. It’s a thing. It’s El Chupacabra! It’s SOMEthing. Please stay.” I smiled. I batted my eyelashes. I even thought about removing my shirt. Something to distract Harry from leaving my apartment.
“Maybe it was a cat?”
But before I could nod my head, the flash and claws and suddenly Harry was in pieces and the thing was crawling through my window. I didn’t have time to scream. I just ran.

“Okay, lady, so what did it look like again?”
“I told you already! What more do you need? It was brown fur, claws and…”
“If it had claws, why did it need an axe?”
“I don’t know. Maybe it was a lumberjack.”
